The Active Adventurers Club is held from 7:45-8:30am on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Maths Club

This club is designed to inspire the children in mathematics through playing a range of games and fun activities. The club also offers parents an opportunity to brush up their skills in order to better support their children at home with their maths.

Maths Club is held in Term 2 on Wednesday afternoons from 3:00-4:00pm in the school library. The sessions are run for the first 5 weeks of term.

Reading Club

Reading Club is all about developing a love of reading amongst the children. There are lots of fun activities including quizzes, games and often a trip to the Upper Hutt library. Parents who attend these sessions are provided with information to help support their children with their reading.

Reading Club is held in Term 3 on Wednesday afternoons from 3:00-4:00pm in the school Library. The sessions are run for the first 5 weeks of term.

Writing Club

Writing Club is about fostering a love for writing and storytelling amongst our students. A wide range of fun, creative activities are offered to children in order to excite them about writing.

Writing Club is held in Term 4 on Wednesday afternoons from 3:00-4:00pm in the school library. The sessions are run for the first 5 weeks of term.

Organised Lunchtime Activities

The school often provides an organised lunchtime activity, run by a teacher. The themes for these activities include art and craft, music, science, geography, history, board games and sports. These activities are provided to give children a wider taste of experiences that they may not receive in their usual classroom programme. The activities are listed on the daily notices so children can decide on the activities they wish to take part in.

The organised lunchtime activities are held at lunchtime from 1:10- 1:50pm. The location of activities will change dependant on the type of activity.

Free Choice Lunchtime Activities

There are a wide range of free choice activities on offer at lunchtimes. The children are trusted to be able to use the library, hall and computer suite with minimal supervision. There is a wide range of board games, outdoor games, unicycles, Playstation,  table tennis and more to keep the children busy. We want the children to develop new skills, learn to share and get along with others and manage themselves in their lunchtimes.

The free choice lunchtime activities are on offer every lunchtime, unless one of the spaces is required for an alternative activity.

FRASER Time

Each Friday the whole school experiences FRASER Time. FRASER Time is a range of activities, linked to a teacher’s passion, which aims to build capability within the children over several weeks. Children influence the range of FRASER Time activities on offer. We often celebrate the work that has been undertaken at the end of a series of FRASER Time activities.

FRASER Time runs from 2:00pm – 2:45pm each Friday afternoon.  The classrooms, library, and ICT suite are often used for FRASER Time activities.

School Sports Teams

The school offers a wide range of sports team which participate in both regular and ‘one off’ competitions. Involvement in our sports teams helps to develop school spirit, teamwork, fitness, healthy lifestyles, and to make friendships.

The location and time of games and training vary for each sports team.

Taiaha Tuition

The school offers Taiaha tuition to the children. The Taiaha is a Maori ceremonial dance, using a rakau or stick. This experience helps to develop strength, coordination, and a greater understanding of Te Reo and Maori Customs.

Taiaha tuition is usually run one day a week in Terms 2 and 3. It is held in the school hall.

Christian Education in Schools

The school offers a Christian Education programme which is run by volunteers from the local church. Both children and parents need to be supportive of their children belonging to this group. We believe this is an extra experience that we can offer our students.

The Christian Education group meets once a week at lunchtimes. Room 9 is the classroom which the group currently uses.

J Rock

J Rock is a stage show challenge where the children get a chance to sing, dance and perform. Other schools take part in this event, which is held at the TSB  Arena in Wellington.

Children in Years 4 – 6 are eligible to participate in J Rock which is held in Term 2.

* Please note that we attempt to provide all the above activities, however some are subject to change.
